Soccer betting is banned in England but not for club owners

Earlier on April of 2017, it was announced that Joey Barton was banned from playing competitive football due some of his actions that the English player committed involving betting on over 1,100 matches. Joey Barton was also fined with a fee of £30,000.

It seems like the same rules that football players have to abide for, club owners don’t necessarily have to follow in the same way.

The Football Association is the governing body of authority in England and they have recently unveiled details which are not as known to the public and it involves club owners being allowed to participate in the world of betting which is what many figures are doing and have been doing for years and even decades.

One example of this is Tony Bloom, the chairman of Brighton & Hove Albion. He is a regular and well-known gambler. His associates established Star Lizard Consulting as a way to provide support for his betting syndicate and it operates like a hedge fund. With over 200 employees which includes traders, analysts and software engineers.

All of those workers were hired in order to provide Tony Bloom with accurate bets on soccer as well as many other sports and this appears to have been going well for the English chairman as he bought a controlling stake in Brighton back on 2009 and has managed to turn the club from competing in League One to their recent promotion into the top tier English Premier League.

Louisa Fyans is a spokeswoman for the Football Association and she revealed details concerning the separate set of rules that club owners have when it comes to betting in the sport as she said: Continue reading “Soccer betting is banned in England but not for club owners”

MOURINHO DEFENDS RASHFORD

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has risen in defence of his striker Marcus Rashford despite the criticisms against him.

Before finding his form in front of goal recently, Rashford scored just one goal from the start of the New Year until early April.

On the other hand, Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw have both been publicly criticized by Mourinho for their performance within the same period. Mourinho explained his management style, saying:

“It is not a psychological approach. It is common sense. When you give everything you have, I cannot demand more from you. Marcus, even when not performing especially well, he was giving absolutely everything. I could never demand more from him.”

Mourinho added that he only needed to encourage him to do more but that he was largely happy with the performance of the player. Continue reading “MOURINHO DEFENDS RASHFORD”

IAN WRIGHT HITS OUT AT GARRY MONK FOR BURST UP

Former Arsenal striker, Ian Wright has massively criticized Leeds United head coach, Gary Monk for his actions after the 37-year-old got in the way of Huddersfield boss, David Wagner during the Yorkshire derby game in the Championship on Sunday afternoon.

The game at the John Smith’s stadium was leveled 1-1 entering into the final minutes, but Terriers defender, Michel Hefele produced a late goal that sparked celebrations from the crowd.

Huddersfield boss sprinted the entire length of the touchline to celebrate with his players. Much angered by the reaction, the former Swansea boss, Monk stepped in front of the German tactician as he ran past him leading to a brawl between both sets of the teams.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live, Wright slammed Monk for such an unprofessional display as he backed Wagner for his celebrations. Wright said he believed Monk deliberately stepped into Wagner’s path, sparking the confrontation. Continue reading “IAN WRIGHT HITS OUT AT GARRY MONK FOR BURST UP”

Rio Ferdinand backs Extension of Alexis’s Contract

Rio Ferdinand reckons that the contract extension of Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal has to happen on his terms only and not on the terms of the Gunners because in the current situation, Sanchez is at the height of his ability, while, the Gunners are over-reliant on him and can’t do away with him.

As per Ferdinand, whatever demands Sanchez throws at the Gunners, those demands will have to be met. The Gunners wouldn’t want a separation because they know that if separation happens they are only going to be left half a team especially in terms of the goal-scoring threat that they are posing these days.

Sanchez’s contract is surely going to come up for a talk at some point in near future at the Emirates Stadium as the Chili international has entered the last quarter of his contract and Ferdinand says he would not be surprised if he gets to know that the striker has asked for a sum which Arsenal has never paid to any of its players. Jack Rodwell Claims Unwanted Record of Going without a Win for 1241 Days

Sunderland midfielder Jack Rodwell has gained the unwanted record of being the first Premier League player to go more than 1241 days without a league victory.

He has not been part of a team that has won in the league for more than three years. The unwanted record had already begun for Rodwell even when he was playing for Manchester City. He moved to Sunderland in a £ 10 million deal back in 2014. His last victory when he was part of the starting line-up came back in May 2013 and it was a narrow 1-0 win over West Brom.

Since then, he has been consistently going downhill in terms of form. This has led to the former Everton midfielder coming nowhere near of the England national team. At one stage, Rodwell was seen as the replacement for Frank Lampard or Steven Gerrard. He was part of the young crop of midfielders coming from the Everton academy. Rodwell Hoping to Revive Career under David Moyes

Jack Rodwell was once regarded as the best young English talent and it was not surprising to see him linked with clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City quite heavily.

Everton resisted any interest from these clubs when David Moyes was their manager. However, it was becoming increasingly apparent that they would not be able to hold on to the highly rated English talent for a long. After a lot of persistence from City, Rodwell made the move to the Etihad stadium even though he was about that first-team football would be a lot tougher than at Goodison Park.

Competition for places was extremely intense at City and they had the ability to bring in a new player for each position almost every summer. This coupled with the player’s own injury problems meant that he was able to make only 25 appearances in his two seasons with City. The club were aware of his injury problems that started to appear during the 2011-12 campaign. Even though they took a gamble, they were not rewarded and Rodwell left for Sunderland in order to revive his career. Now, the player is hoping to do exactly the same after being reunited with David Moyes.
