RASHFORD RETURNS TO UNITED TRAINING

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has returned to team training in time for the Southampton game on Sunday. The Saints welcome Manchester United to the St. Mary’s Stadium later this weekend and Rashford is expected to start the game after recovering from the knock suffered in the last game, a Champions League match with Istanbul Basaksehir FC from the European nation of Turkey.

Rashford picked up a knock during the Champions League matchday four meeting with the Turkish club at Old Trafford and was substituted before the hour mark as a result of the minor injury. He returned to the scoresheet during that game as the England international added a third goal for the Red Devils after the hosts had gone 2-0 up against their Turkish opponents through the brace from Portuguese international Bruno Fernandes.

Bruno Fernandes is the regular penalty taker but he passed on the spot kick to Marcus Rashford who made no mistake in adding a third goal for his team. He was replaced in the second half by Daniel James who added a fourth goal for the RedDevils to help them regain their three-goal advantage after Deniz Turuz had pulled it back to 3-1 in the 75th minute. The match ended 4-1 in favour of the Red Devils.

Manchester United are closing in on a place in the Champions League round of 16 on the back of that win. They need just one more victory from the final two matchdays to make it a reality. They are gradually returning to form after a poor start to the season.

United have won their last three games in all competitions including the last two league matches and they are up against a formidable team in the Saints who are on a run of seven games without a defeat since losing the opening two games of the season.
